Think about this: Someone, somewhere, gets paid to make sure that issues like this do not happen. I want that job. I don’t get nearly enough sleep right now and I could use the rest.
[Update] It was only down for 3 hours this time.

– I remember thinking things were getting hectic. Multiply the followers by at least 20 and the amount of blogs I had by 10 and then talk to me. 2010 Ron Workman was such a wimp.

Proof that it has been a bad week
#1. I got post-event SARS/SuperAIDS.
#2. I listened to a Selena Gomez song and ended up liking the damn thing.
#3. I am installing Apple iTunes on my computer (which I swore would never happen).

Making Your Custom-Domain Tumblr a Little More... →
baohouse: One of Tumblr’s servers went down today. It happens to be the one which is used to dish out webpages for those of us using a custom domain name (e.g. www.baohouse.net as opposed to baohouse.tumblr.com). Tumblr isn’t as fault-tolerant as I thought it was. However, there were other Tumblr servers that were still running fine.
So here’s a technique they don’t tell you that will make your...

tumblr doesn’t work? I call bullshit
Note from Ron: I know right? When people comment that they aren’t having problems I just think ‘are they unaware that Tumblr itself is like a meme for having unreliable service?’ The last commenter said about their blogs “ they work all day every day’ and I actually laughed outloud....
@cnhedeen
I can’t use your ‘ask’ box because your blog is on a custom domain and doesn’t work for me or about 90% of the rest of the world.
Some people don’t seem to realize (including Tumblr’s support team) that this issue seems to flux without any reason. It doesn’t effect some users. A ton of people right now across the world cannot access Tumblr blogs on...
According to Tumblr: It is your error →
So, if you have a custom domain, Tumblr seems to think it is an error which you have made in the A-record of the domain (pay no attention to the fact that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t). The above link would take you to David Karp’s tumblr blog but, THE CREATOR OF TUMBLR uses a custom url and according to Tumblr support, he has made a mistake in setting it up.

Every single day. Every single day. Yesterday, it took them at least 10 hours to catch it. How long will it take today?
This is someone’s job to fix as well as prevent and it happens every single day.
[update] Around 8 hours or so. Tumblr also seems to be answering the support lines by telling people everything is fine and that the issue is in the A-domain setting. Don’t understand...

Battle of Los Angeles is not the same movie as Battle: Los Angeles. One has Kel Mitchell. Yes, that Kel. The other was a multimillion dollar production that also had millions of advertising dollars behind it. One carries a copy depth of 5 in my store, the other carries a copy depth of over 50. Is it really that fucking confusing? You have no one to be pissed at but yourself… and maybe the...
Cross-game voice chat is not possible on the... →
Note from Ron: I just wanted to throw this out there. The current year is 2011. The year the PS3 came out in was 2006. For those nearly 5 years I have listened to PS3 fanboys prattle on about the PS3 getting cross-game chat soon. It also shows you some insight into what 5 years of hard hitting gaming journalism looks like.

I can post this basically every day and at some point in the day it is always true. It only takes a few seconds for someone at Tumblr to fix it. For some reason it always takes them hours (sometimes days) to catch it.
[update] It took around 10 hours

… and yes I know this makes 3 days straight that this has happened.
To fix this common problem I strongly suggest setting up a cloudflare account to counter-balance it.
[Update] It seems things are back online. It only took 4 or 5 hours for the issue to be caught even though it takes only seconds to resolve.

It is worth noting that I am not by any means an economist. I am simply a guy that does things with numbers. Spotting patterns in them or translating them might be a little easier for me compared to the average guy on the street but that does not mean that my insight has any serious value. Don’t use the things I say to counter someone in a debate. If anything, look up what I say to catch...
