Launching a new blog: The first 24 hours of Netflixia
As some of you might have noticed, our Netflix blog launched officially on Friday. Even though I often do soft launches (make posts for a week or two prior to launch trying to make sure the site functions properly and is indexed by Google) I often pick a random day to slam on the gas (a ‘Follow Friday” post across the network). Here is the breakdown of that day.
Total followers: 794
New followers per hour: 31.25 (it had a few before Friday)
Traffic rank on the network: For the day it was 2nd overall (just behind it8bit)
I really think this blog will go over well. Considering it passed the Tumblr hump point on day one (400-600 followers) there seems to be the demand. I like the format of this blog a lot. Simple yet useful. I honestly spent a few months creating drafts and tinkering with the format until I felt like it gave the reader enough info if they didn’t know much about a film, yet didn’t overwhelm a reader that did with too much data. Throws everything you need to click on right in front of you (blurb/IMDB/Trailer/Netflix link).
I have seen other Netflix blogs on Tumblr and none of them seem to do this which seems so basic. It’s such easy work. I think people make blogs to get popular a lot more often than they do to create useful platforms that are built for the audience.
Anyways, I am happy and really excited to have a new blog added in. Thanks to everyone who followed it. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
