While I can’t really source this past a girl in high school, it is an interesting take on the shut down. While mega-upload was a copyright infringement haven, it always had been. Why shut them down only weeks after announcing a new service which was claimed to offer much higher payouts to music artists?

it was shut down because someone uploaded illegal trailer or something of Battleship, and since one of the servers was in Virginia, the FBI shut it down.
