So Ron Workman has some pretty cool ideas on ways to use Tumblr as a more ‘official’ blogging platform.
Unbeknownst to me, he made a free ad (pictured above) for my tumblr since it falls under what he considers “cool blogs on Tumblr.” I’m flattered. The ad looks pretty awesome too. I guess they are running on it8bit.com, herochan.com, and cannotunsee.net. Check the sites out.
Read more about it here, here, here, and here. I guess he is pretty bogged down on creating these so don’t go request them just yet.
Thanks Ron!

Ron is amazing and this project is so wonderful and simple I’m surprised it hasn’t come up before, but it really does take someone with a great grasp of the way things work to cut through it all to the marrow.
I’ve already followed six new people through these ads.
I’ll post mine later. Thanks a million.

Note from Ron: I really feel like it is working. 2 different people messaged me today letting me know they were getting hits and picking up new followers out of nowhere. I’m not sure you can accurately track it though. How I made the ads open in a new tab likely doesn’t cause analytics/tracking code to catch it. I don’t really care about the credit though. That isn’t the point?
I am really happy that people like this and understand what I am trying to create. I really want people to understand that this system is still a few months away from working the way I am hoping it does. It needs to become smart or aware I guess would better a better way to put it. It needs to understand why a reader might like a related blog. The blog in the ad should really make sense to be on the page it is.
2 things I want to do in the future:
#1. Make this code and the ads free and easy to add to any Tumblr so that anyone can have ads for blogs they like. I love the idea of this becoming a habit that makes sense. Changing the way simple links to blogs you like works. Making it easy for anyone to add in new ads and have them show on their page without coding knowledge.
#2. Really think of better ways to inform the user about what the blog is and why they might like it before they even click. Making banner types different styles is one way but I might add a mouseover function. So if you hover over the add a text box will pop up with a brief description.
Final note: To me this is an idea. It is an unsigned painting. I don’t really care about credit as much as I would like to see something like this become a standard. I do appreciate the love over this but if you have an ad, it is because you deserve it. It is likely that I’m showing love for entertainment or knowledge you have given me by following your blog.
