IT Network Tumblr facts:
It took Cannot Unsee around 3 months to pick up 1000 followers. Around a month to pick up the next 1000. 3 weeks for the next 1000 etc. etc. I didn’t chart out every day perfectly at the time, but it seems safe to say it averaged somewhere around 20 new followers every single day in the first 5 or so months. I used to think Cannot Unsee had a growth rate that we would never beat (though it averages over 100 new followers per post lifetime which is amazing).
A few months ago we launched Herochan. It picked up 10,000 followers in under 3 months. That places its follower growth rate at around 120 new followers every day.
That brings us to it8Bit. On average picks up almost 180 new followers every single day. At its current rate, it could hit 15,000 followers about as fast as Herochan hit 10k.
I estimate that Tumblr blogs which we work on generate easily between 3,000 and 6,000 notes every day on Tumblr. It’s almost impossible to break this down any better and keep in mind that what day of the week it is causes it to vary heavily. The most in one day was somewhere over 30,000.
Just some numbers. I find it fascinating to be honest. I’m lucky to be a part of it. This shows a lot about Tumblrs growth rate since spring. Considering when we launched Cannot Unsee, Chanh and I each only had personal blogs and combined, I’m not sure if we had 2000 total followers at the time. Now we have a ton of sites (30+) with 8 people working on them with us and I’m not even sure on how many followers total. A shit ton would likely be accurate though. I would die for tumblr-counter to actually work again so it doesn’t take forever to add them all up (does anyone get anything other than “Invalid Token?”)
*These numbers don’t really translate to personal blog growth rates at all. These are for focused content blogs. Completely different animal. So don’t look at anything on here and be discouraged in the least.
