Hey Tumblr: Shut down new accounts ASAP

Spam accounts today are out of control. I have noticed 100s today alone just on a few of my blogs. This week has been bad but today it is over the top. No doubt, a bot has figured out how to create accounts, reblog posts and move on. NO DOUBT.

This is an automated process and has to be stopped ASAP. It will only get worse and takes a ton of time and manpower to clean up when it gets out of control.

These 3 things together = fake blog

accounts without avatars

accounts with a hyphen in the url and mock name (firstname-lastname.tumblr)

new accounts with 40 reblogs in a matter of hours

also note: They never have original posts or add content to reblogs as well as like a few posts on a blog (usually old posts) then jump to the next blog and so on.

This kind of thing cannot be allowed to go on. I sent an email to support earlier today and heard nothing back.

And for Tumblr bloggers: Realize that sometimes your followers aren’t real. Don’t make a post next week whining about losing followers. Seriously.
